7 quick ways to get more traffic for free!

Traffic is the lifeblood of your site. If you want to promote something, you need traffic! Here are 7 quick tips on getting traffic.

1) Forum marketing. - Now forums evolved from the chatrooms and have become very popular. People post on one message board or another every day. When they're looking for solutions to problems, there's one place they look. Other people that are real that have the answers. They like to interact with others and find the answers they're seeking. signing up for high traffic forums related to your niche, is a great way to generate highly targeted traffic. Don't spam the forums, simply join, add your signature files, and make high quality posts asking questions, an answering questions. Your signature file will be seen, and you will get plenty of traffic.

2)Blogging. A Blog is a great way to interact with your website visitors. You can communicate directly with your blog readers, and you can promote the heck out of a product if you want. I have seen some sites where the blog actually ranks higher in the search engine for certain terms than the website itself! Blogging can bring a community of people interested in a certain product or service or whatever you're promoting, that want to find out information and hear the latest updates. Blogs are free too! Use Squidoo.com and create a "lens" which is a form of a blog. Or head over to blogger.com or wordpress.com and create a log there. You can use these 7 tips to promote your blog as well too!

3) commenting on others blogs. An area where you KNOW someone is passionate about your niche, is a blog about it. Provide tips and secrets that others may not of thought of, provide information, and give them "a taste" of the information your site provides. You can search for the high traffic blogs in your niche by typing in your keyword and BLOG at the end, . Chances are if it ranks high in google, it gets a lot of traffic.

4) article marketing. - There are many different forms of article marketing. You can pick the long tail keywords that are long phrases, and actually get the article itself ranked high in the search engine for that long term, and as a result get people flowing to your article, and eventually to your blog, or you can promote your site in the same way, or you can try to build a lot of quality backlinks, by submitting your articles to maybe the top 10-20 article directories. You are less likely to get the article itself ranked high on the search engine, but in the long run, submitting articles like this will get your blog/website ranked higher in the search engines. Then there's the massive automatic article submission method where you basically submit your article to every article directory at once. Search engines are picking up on spammers using this method, and won't like you getting no back links then a million in one day because of your autosubmission... However, if you steadily grow you website for awhile, and after a longer period of time of submission, you can usually get away with submitting to a lot of directories. You might be a little safer pointing your article readers to a blog or even secondary blog that you don't mind if it loses search engine credibility. The thing you're trying to get here, is people reading your article from all sorts of places. You're looking for traffic from the article directories directly, and from ezine publishers using your articles. Using software to do this is a perfectly fine idea, and it certainly has it's place to get you traffic, but just be aware that the massive submission isn't always a good idea for search engine purposes.

5) search engine marketing. - In case you didn't notice, I mentioned getting ranked by the search engines for a reason. Search engine traffic is great. How do you find a solution.. sure you might visit forums on the topic, but where do you find those forums? SEARCH ENGINES. If traffic is the lifeblood of your business, search engines are the veins that guide it. There's several techniques to optimize your sites for the search engines, many of the methods I've mentioned are actually good for the search engine rankings as well. But another technique is to simply submit your URL to several search engines. Yes, even the smaller ones. Try to submit to 5 search engines per day if you can. The reason is, is because google, yahoo, and MSN wants to know what sites are indexed by other search engines. By getting in other search engines, google, yahoo, and msn, the 3 largest search engines, will notice you and give you a higher ranking in their search engines.

6) craigslist and other classified ads sites. -I read recently that craigslist is a better source to offer or get a job at than major sites like career builder! Craigslist gets massive traffic. You can find people that are seeking something you can provide and let them know and you can let people know that you got what they're looking for. If you want to post your URL you can post under the "sm biz ads" section of craigslist. This will help your website get listed in the search engines, but people reading through the ads will also notice it and check it out. Of course, yahoo, msn, and myspace, and others all have their form of classified ads, so don't limit yourself to craigslist!

7) Social Networking+bookmarking sites - Now I could probably write an entire book on how to market using social networking sites and social bookmarking sites. But there's plenty of information out there and these are 7 "quick tips", not 7 chapters or books worth of info, so I'm only going to concentrate on digg. I trust that you're smart enough to find all the information you need if you want to market via mmyspace+facebook, and other social networking sites. Basically if you "digg" a article, you are letting the "digg" network know about it. People can "bury" articles they don't like and "digg" ones they do. posting on Digg with an interesting title is a good way to get noticed by the digg community. If you can get ranked higher, more people will notice it and it will get you a chance to get more "diggs" and a higher ranking. Not only does "digging" your articles and other things on your site bring you traffic due to the clickthroughs, but it also gives you another backlink.

Using these 7 traffic tips should have you increasing your traffic very quickly. But don't limit yourself to just these 7 ways, there are plenty of other free traffic methods.A few that didn't make the list such as posting to video directories and setting up self-perpetuating traffic exchange blogs are a couple others that didn't make the list because although they may be excellent ways, they're not the QUICKEST unless you know what you're doing.
